Submit Writing to the OWL

SUMMER 2020 UPDATE:

The Online Writing Lab (OWL) is closed for the summer as of Tuesday, July 28th, at 4:00 PM, and will no longer accept submissions after that time.

The OWL will, however, return in the Fall 2020 semester (starting late August) in a newly re-tooled form. Further details will be provided later. Thanks for using this service, and we’ll see you again in the fall!

ONLINE WRITING LAB (OWL) GUIDELINES:

  1. Please keep your submission limited to eight (8) pages total (or fewer) of double-spaced text. Keep in mind that our goals include narrowing the focus of these sessions enough to make them instructive and productive—not necessarily looking through an entire paper. If you submit a piece of writing that exceeds 10 pages of double-spaced text, you’ll be asked to resubmit a smaller, more manageable portion of your work.

  2. It will usually take two (2) full business days to receive your submission back from us with a tutor’s written feedback and comments; however, under the current set of circumstances, please be aware that it may take longer for us to return your submission. We’d encourage you submit your work well in advance of deadlines to allow for the time it could take for a tutor to comment on your writing.

  3. Make sure you provide your exact email address! If you accidentally misspell your email address, we won’t be able to send your work back to you.

  4. Remember that a tutor’s job is not merely to “proofread” your paper, identify and correct every instance of a sentence-level error, or write your paper for you—we leave that to you, the writer! The tutor is tasked with commenting on certain aspects of your writing and providing feedback, suggestions, or guidance. We also won’t speculate about what kind of grade you might receive on your assignment.

  5. Any work submitted to the OWL on weekends, on weekdays after 5:00 PM, or during any university closures, will not be reviewed until the next available weekday.

Our OWL writing consultants can provide you with feedback and suggestions regarding any kind of writing that you are working on. The OWL is available to CSU-Pueblo undergraduate and graduate students, including Senior-to-Sophomore (STS).
